Till a century ago, most of the household tasks were done manually. Since labour was cheap, help could be hired at a low cost. However, with increasing development and industrialization, new home appliances and gadgets were devised, which greatly simplified the work.
The availability of electricity was the impetus to the development of this devices. Initially they were mechanical in nature, but with the reduction in the cost of microcontrollers, most of the appliances have some sort of digital controls and can be programmed as per the users requirements
